Acquisition of Micron Analytical Ltd

4-Rail Services Ltd is please to announce that Micron Analytical Ltd is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the 4-Rail Services group. Micron Analytical, based in Scunthorpe, is a UKAS accredited laboratory offering Asbestos Surveys, Airborne Fibre Monitoring, 4 Stage Clearances, Bulk Analysis and Project Management services.

The same professional, dynamic team, lead by Lucy Whitehead and supported by Lorraine Rynne will continue to focus on delivering the cost effective, quality solution for client needs.

This acquisition further bolsters the 4-Rail groups position as a leading provider of scientific and environmental services throughout the UK.

East London Line Project and the Brunel Tunnel
The contract awarded to 4-RAIL to supply and maintain a temporary ventilation and air monitoring system for safe working  throughout the Brunel Tunnel was part of a  24 hour service provided to the Joint Venture client.  In addition 4-RAIL were contracted to provide environmental services, particularly for materials testing, identification and the removal of hazardous substances throughout this major Track Construction Programme.

The Cutty Sark Tea Clipper

The Cutty Sark Tea Clipper was damaged by fire in May 2007.  An extensive renovation project was undertaken on the Cutty Sark to make good the damage.  In this type of work, repainting of the steel work and preparation of timbers, 4-RAIL have experience in undertaking airborne dust and solvent monitoring to demonstrate that control measures are ensuring that the exposures of operatives remain within the HSE Workplace Exposure Limits.

Network Rail Station; Thameslink Project.

4-RAIL Services have recently completed a full suite of health and safety surveys for hazardous materials for a proposed station redevelopment project.

This is part of the large ongoing Thameslink project within London. The hazardous materials surveys included asbestos surveys (Management & Demolition Surveys), lead in paint coating systems sampling & analysis, plaster sampling for anthrax contamination, avian and rodent identification, sharps / hypodermic needle identification, water / sludge and soil / spoil sampling for the purpose of identification and control of hazardous waste.

Crossrail Project

A recent project incorporated a refurbishment / demolition survey for asbestos. The client was keen to have us involved with the project management of the removal of the indentified asbestos, and as such 4-RAIL Services acted as the client’s representative on site during the removal works. This incorporated airborne fibre monitoring throughout  the removal  by the licensed asbestos contractor, and a close working relationship with the licensed asbestos contractor to ensure the project was completed on time, but more importantly to the high standard that 4RS clients expect.
