Workplace Hazardous Materials Surveys

The workplace, especially refurbishment and demolition works, can present a major risk to health from both biological and chemical hazards, resulting in some circumstances in exposure to carcinogens & mutagens. It is important to ensure all hazards have been identified and managed before and during planned works.

Our experienced and technically qualified  surveyors, site technologists and consultants, offer a full range of on site monitoring and consultancy services including:

  • Hazardous Materials Surveys

  • Workplace Inhalation and Exposure Assessments.

Hazardous Materials Surveys.

Identification & Quantification, including:

  • Sampling paint coatings for Lead & Chromium content
  • Bulk sampling for Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs)
  • Sampling of horsehair plaster for potential Anthrax spore contamination
  • Identification of Poly Chlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) hazards
  • Identification of Biological Hazards including pigeon faeces, hypodermic needles, glass sharps, rodent activity etc

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) as amended.

  • Initial Workplace Appraisals & Basic Workplace Assessment surveys in accordance with HSG 173
  • Monitoring workplace exposure against HSE Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs, EH40)
    • Airborne Dust levels (Respirable and Total Inhalable)
    • Airborne Silica, released during building works / demolition
    • Airborne Microbiological Organisms e.g. yeasts and moulds
